Hello! Welcome to my art site. My name is Sara Codd and I feel like art is always an adventure. I like to use art to explore the goodness and beauty in nature and in the life around me. Art can be an outlet for many. Many people get hung up thinking only some people are talented enough to be artists. I have also been guilty of this train of thought. It reminds me of a Pablo Picasso quote that has stuck with me. “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Children are very creative. Some of my favorite moments have been spent working with children and seeing the art they produce, this experience has stood as a reminder to leave preconceived notions and just create. I have yet to meet a child who wasn’t creative. So why do we get so hung up as adults! I have also learned that it doesn’t have to be expensive to create. In fact I enjoy using old wrapping papers, gift tissue paper and other various second hand materials to create my multimedia art. Both the Picasso quote and a quote from a teacher who said to us as children “there are no mistakes in art!” remain near and dear to my heart. Keep trying new things, keep an unhindered childlike creativity, keep endeavoring in adventures in art. It is worth the journey and you might be surprised where it takes you!
